OLD TREE
Living alongside us, often unmarked and uncelebrated, trees are the elders of our multispecies communities. They have forced streets to curve, housed generations of birds and bugs, withstood development, and accumulated more years in rings than any humans could have. The oldest ones stand despite it all, almost in protest. Stewarded across generations, these trees have withstood dramatic social and ecological changes. They provide shade, cool homes, purify air, and are vital to the future of urban spaces. To notice them is to love them, and to love them is to feel called to protect them.
